This is one of those cat things that are just so cat in their nature that we are not even surprised. Of course this would happen. Why would it not happen? Why would this cat actually use its own energy to make the wheel turn when there is a purrfectly acceptable human butler who can do it for them? It is just so much easier that way, and really, we appreciate the determination that this kitty has for the task at hand. Scream, kitty, unfortunately screaming as a cat always seems to work.

It's the fact that they know that screaming will get them what they want, no matter how random it might be, that we find the most hilarious. They just scream. They have no way of telling us what they want. They just scream until they get what they want, no matter how long it takes, and then one of two things happens: either their silly humans figure it out and the kitties quiet down, or we don't, and the screaming never ever stops ever. It's hilarious. And we love them for it.

Cats are smarter than they make us think they are. That is something that we have learned the hard way over our time as cat owners. We did not grow up with cats in the house. We did not know. We were not warned of just how mischievous and cunning they are. We learned that when our cats started stealing our socks and hiding them in random places. We learned that when our cats decided the best place to nap is right on our puzzle, because it just gets the biggest reaction from us. We learned that when we realized that our cats zoom across our faces in the middle of the night not on accident, but because they know that it will wake us up and increase their chances of being fed in the middle of the night.
So, we say this with an honest heart, when we tell you that you should have known something like this would happen. When you bought this hamster wheel for your cat - so that the cat could entertain itself, so that it wouldn't be another task for you, so that the cat could release its energy in a fun way… you couldn't have known how the cat would turn this around on you, but you should have known it would happen.
